Ready-to-Wear Superhero: Shadowcat (Back-to-School Series)

Kitty Pryde was introduced to the X-Men in 1980 as a school girl and while she’s now an adult member of the team, she retains a youthful outlook and fills the kid sister role to more than one X.

While the yellow-and-blue X-jumpsuit is not unique to Shadowcat, it is her most iconic look. And it’s not difficult to add a few touches to make it clearly Kitty.

1. For the jumpsuit, pair a bright yellow top with skinny blue jeans and layer it with either a cardigan or a hoodie in blue.

2. A belt is something that can switch “clothes” to “a look” and the red cuts up the blue and yellow so neither is overpowering. Without the belt the shoes would be “too matchy matchy” as Nina Garcia would say.

3. The purple backpack brings Lockheed into the picture. In lieu of a bag, a purple scarf would have a similar effect. The necklace is a nod to Kitty’s Judaism.

  1. This is perfect! I was looking for a ready-to-wear Kitty look for Montreal Comic Con. I love the belt and its purpose, as well as the purple accessory for Lockheed. Thanks!
