Superhero of the Night: Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Cannes Closing I)

The 63rd Annual Festival de Cannes has come to a close with the Palme d’Or awarded to:

Apichatpong Weerasethakul for “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”.

I don’t begin to know how to properly pronounce his name and all I know of his film is what is being reported (“…how to watch Mr. Weerasethakul’s films: You need to shake loose all your preconceived ideas about how and why movies have meaning and just plunge in.” – New York Times) but I find him rather adorable. This is the first Thai film to win the top prize and he’s wearing white-on-white-on-white which I say makes him the White Knight of the Cannes Closing Ceremony.

There is definitely something Geek Chic going on here.
