All Hail King Karl
Posted: March 18, 2010 Filed under: Runway Fashion | Tags: fashion week, karl lagerfeld, supervillain, winter fashion 3 CommentsKarl Lagerfeld is a real person. It’s kind of amazing. He looks, acts, and speaks like a Bond villain but he is a real person. And unapologetically real at that.
“That is because there is only culture.”
So there is absolutely amazing interview in which Karl espouses about everything and nothing in his own special Lagerfeld way. It’s conversational, controversial, and long, but seriously, read the real interview not the many soundbyte versions out there. It’s entirely worth it, he’s a trip, and you will actually understand what he is saying, as outrageous as it sometimes is. Outrageous and secretly brilliant. Like Dr. Doom.
Meanwhile, he’s also responsible for this:
Hello, Emma Frost’s arctic safari look.
All I gotta say is: Kim Kardashian
Posted: February 22, 2010 Filed under: Event Fashion | Tags: fashion week, kim kardashian, supervillain Leave a commentI plan a full Fashion Week look-thru-and-review with a special guest blogger but until then, here’s a gem I just couldn’t ignore. I do not like Kim Kardashian (or, honestly, anyone on a non-competitive reality series) (or any of the finding love competitive reality series) (or the put a bunch of people in a house together and make them act like fools and vote them out one by one competitive reality series) (Survivor is ok, but) (yeah, mostly the only reality series I like are related to cooking) (and fashion, of course, but even those have some issues) (ANYWAY) but she does like clothes. Apparently she is getting into design herself! And hey, that can only be good for this blog. Look:
Interactive Wednesday: Gwen Stefani
Posted: February 17, 2010 Filed under: Interactive | Tags: fashion week, gwen stefani 2 CommentsGwen Stefani has been a fashion and supergirl staple since she finally broke out of the SoCal shadows to rock Just a Girl. In 2003 she debuted her own fashion line: L.A.M.B. and last week she launched her fall collection as part of New York Fashion Week. As a HUGE No Doubt and Gwen Stefani fan, it pains me to even consider her as a Supervillain. I seriously wore a Supergirl outfit to a No Doubt concert. With the boots. And the platinum blonde curls just like Gwen’s. One really drunk guy actually mistook me for Gwen as we were all filing out of the venue. Point being: Gwen Stefani IS Supergirl to me.
But.
She’s looking particularly villainous. Especially with her army of models (the full picture). So, welcome to Interactive Wednesday!
Is Gwen, in her own L.A.M.B., a superheroine or a supervillainess? And whichever you choose, what’s her name?
“Kanye West’s Amber Rose” is almost a Super-name already
Posted: February 15, 2010 Filed under: Couples Fashion, Event Fashion, Red Carpet Fashion | Tags: amber rose, fashion week, kanye west, supervillain 2 CommentsAmber Rose is a model but does anyone even remember that? She’s Kanye’s girlfriend and arm candy and constantly wears outfits that upstage them both (which is Quite The Feat! considering). This gem from her appearance at Christian Siriano’s Fashion Week Show is pretty subdued really, but still made a stir even sans Kanye:
It’s pretty, really, a super dressed for the party. Because that hair and those nails — she’s a super. But Hero or Villain? Hmmmm.
